{"id":2596,"date":"2021-05-05T12:48:11","date_gmt":"2021-05-05T07:03:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nepallivetoday.com\/?p=2596"},"modified":"2021-05-05T15:23:05","modified_gmt":"2021-05-05T09:38:05","slug":"cpn-maoist-center-withdraws-support-to-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nepallivetoday.com\/2021\/05\/05\/cpn-maoist-center-withdraws-support-to-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"K P Oli-led govt reduced to minority as CPN (Maoist Center) withdraws support"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kathmandu<\/strong>: The KP Sharma Oli-led government has been reduced to minority after the CPN (Maoist Center) on Wednesday withdrew its support to the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Whip of CPN (Maoist Center) Dev Prasad Gurung submitted the letter to the General-Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat in presence of lawmakers including the party\u2019s Parliamentary Party leader and Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal \u2018Prachanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe government didn\u2019t take a vote of confidence within 30 days after the Supreme Court didn\u2019t acknowledge the unification between CPN-UML and Maoist Center. It decided to summon a special session to take a vote of confidence violating the constitution and parliamentary tradition. The support to government has been withdrawn with effect from today as per the decision of the party,\u201d reads the letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The party had supported the Parliamentary Party leader of the CPN-UML, Oli, in February 2018. The Nepal Communist Party was forged after a merger between the then UML and CPN (Maoist Center) on May 17, 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Supreme Court decision on March 7, 2021, had shattered the unity between the two parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though the CPN (Maoist Center) had been reiterating that there was no support of the party to the Oli-led government after Supreme Court\u2019s decision, the party had not formally withdrawn its support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday had summoned a special session of the Parliament for May 10 on the recommendation of the government for Prime Minister Oli to take a vote of confidence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu: The KP Sharma Oli-led government has been reduced to minority after the CPN (Maoist Center) on Wednesday withdrew its support to the government.
