A single bench of district Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal convicted Lamicchane of raping a minor in a hotel in Kathmandu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The upcoming hearing will determine the jail term for Lamichhane, who is currently out on bail. On January 12, the Patan High Court had ordered Lamichhane\u2019s release in response to a review petition he filed. A joint bench of judges Dhruva Raj Nanda and Ramesh Dahal granted bail with specified conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, on November 4, 2022, the Kathmandu District Court had directed Lamichhane to the Sundhara-based central jail after a detention hearing. Then Lamichhane challenged this order in the high court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kathmandu District Attorney\u2019s Office had filed a case against Lamichhane, accusing him of raping a 17-year-old girl on August 21, under Section 219 of the Criminal Code 2074.
