{"id":493,"date":"2021-04-14T13:35:48","date_gmt":"2021-04-14T07:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepallivetoday.com\/?p=493"},"modified":"2021-04-14T15:43:17","modified_gmt":"2021-04-14T09:58:17","slug":"sc-scraps-provision-for-renewing-online-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nepallivetoday.com\/2021\/04\/14\/sc-scraps-provision-for-renewing-online-media\/","title":{"rendered":"SC scraps provision for renewing online media"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kathmandu<\/strong>: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order to scrap the provision of annual renew of online media.<br><br>A divisional bench of Justice Deepak Kumar Karki and Sushmalata Mathema on Tuesday issued a directive to annul the rule which stated that online media would be shut if its renewal is not carried out annually.<br><br>The apex court order has scrapped the provisions stipulated in Clause 6 of the Online Media Operation Directive-2073 that was introduced against the spirit of the Nepal Constitution on freedom of expression and the press.<br><br>Hearing on a writ petition filed by advocate and journalists, Leelanath Ghimire and Bishnu Kumar Giri the apex court revoked the online media directive&#8217;s provision that stated the service of online media could be shut if their renew was not done per annum.<br><br>The court issued a certiorari order to scrap this provision noting it was inconsistent with the constitution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order to scrap the provision of annual renew of online media.
